Canvas Living Brainpark

Rotterdam has gained a new hotspot in the vibrant Brainpark district.

The newly completed Canvas Living is an innovative residential concept by Greystar, centred around community and connection for students and young professionals.

BigBrands, part of the Holmris B8 Group, was responsible for the turnkey interior furnishing of 614 apartments and 1,400 m² of common areas. Design development, procurement, custom-made solutions, logistics and installation were brought together in one coordinated process. The project was completed within budget and one month ahead of schedule.

The bold and creative interior concept was developed by HD+VK and translated into a technically feasible and buildable design. It is based on the studio’s HPNG concept, a shortened form of ‘happening’, in which each part of the building is designed to offer a small and subtle experience. Geometric and sculptural forms are combined with unexpected textures and details throughout the interior. Value engineering helped maintain the character and impact of the original design while ensuring its practical realisation.

From the striking main entrance to the study areas and meeting spaces, each element was carefully selected to support the overall concept. The common areas feature high-quality custom solutions that complement the refined aesthetic while also meeting the demands of intensive daily use.

The interior unfolds across a wide range of shared facilities, including a private dining room, a fully equipped gym, a private cinema and a skylounge. Together with the complete furnishing of the apartments and studios, these spaces create a living environment that balances privacy with opportunities for interaction and community.
