Creating calm and welcoming surroundings at Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic Amager
Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic Amager at Hans Bogbinders Allé in Copenhagen has undergone a renovation to create new surroundings for its outpatient services. Waiting areas that were previously spread across several floors have now been brought together on the ground floor alongside group and consultation rooms.
The interior has been designed to make patients and visitors feel calm and welcome from the moment they arrive. The new setting accommodates different needs, offering space for social interaction as well as privacy, vulnerability and confidential conversations. Above all, it is intended to be an inclusive environment for people facing a wide range of circumstances and challenges.
A warm and peaceful atmosphere is created through a considered use of colour and materials. Light wood is used throughout the furniture and fixed elements, while muted shades of green, blue, yellow and pink give each room its own identity. Plants and artwork soften the clinical setting and help create more inviting surroundings that support a sense of comfort, connection and calm.
