A new chapter for Amsterdam’s historic Metz Building
In the heart of Amsterdam, the historic Metz Building on Leidsestraat has found a new purpose as NIO House Amsterdam. Originally built in 1891, the building was home to the renowned Metz & Co department store for more than a century. Today, it brings together the building’s rich history with a new experience centered around electric car brand NIO.
Opened in 2024, NIO House Amsterdam spans 2,700 m² and offers much more than a traditional car showroom. Designed by architecture studio MVRDV, the space invites visitors to explore NIO’s vehicles while also providing areas to work, meet, and relax.
Our Dutch colleagues at BigBrands, part of Holmris B8 Group, contributed to the project with furniture that complements the architectural concept and supports the different ways visitors use the space.
The result is a place where automotive design, hospitality, and everyday activities come together within one of Amsterdam’s historic buildings.
