Small projects with big potential for CO₂ savings

Large office projects often get the most attention and publicity. But in fact, even smaller projects – where reuse and CO₂e considerations are integrated from the very beginning – can have great potential for reducing emissions and resource consumption.

An example of care and well-considered decisions can be found at Grundfos, where, for an office in Belgium, reuse has been integrated across the entire office landscape.

The shelving units are upcycled carcasses from old B8 shelves, which have been repainted. By adding new fronts, the cabinets have been given a completely new look and life, along with an additional two-year renewed warranty. This has resulted in an estimated CO₂e saving of approx. 77% compared to new production.

The estimated CO₂e saving of the reused desks is approximately 76%.

The desks consist of existing frames, which have been fitted with black foil and new tabletops in line with Grundfos’ current look and feel. Compared to purchasing and transporting a new desk, the estimated CO₂e saving is approx. 76%.

The remaining furniture and products for the office have been carefully selected with a focus on the lowest possible environmental or climate impact from Grundfos’ own furniture catalogue. Here, all items are described with CO₂e figures, making it easy to compare and make informed decisions.

Holmris B8 handled all upcycling, delivery, and installation.
