In addition to that, our sustainable focus in all processes and products means that we protect the environment as much as possible and take responsibility without compromising on quality and design.
Despite more than 100 years of experience, not everyone at HOLMRIS B8 can be equally good at everything. Therefore, we have divided our specialists into the segments of Office, Learning, Care and Hospitality.

History is the foundation of the future
HOLMRIS B8 is the story of several generations’ desire to produce quality furniture, good craftsmanship and beautiful design. But it is also the story of one of Denmark’s fastest-growing furniture successes.
The year was 1937. Søren Holmris, a 26-year-old cabinet maker, had a dream of starting out on his own, and so he established his own workshop in Bjerringbro, in Central Denmark. Eventually, the company was taken over by his son Erik Holmris, whose background in decorative arts and design helped establish the foundation for HOLMRIS’ products – a foundation based on strong traditions of design and craftsmanship.
Market leader with a sharp focus
In 1993, Henrik Holmris took over the helm, as the third generation, to spearhead the transformation of HOLMRIS from an innovative manufacturing company to a sales and design house focusing on furniture and interior design solutions in four market segments: Office, Learning, Care, and Hospitality.
This focus has resulted in explosive growth, and from 2000 to 2008, HOLMRIS’ revenue increased tenfold, from DKK 12 million to DKK 127 million, thanks to growing market shares in Denmark and abroad. In 2017, 60% of shares in the company were sold to BWB Partners. The company is still run by Henrik Holmris in collaboration with Niels Henrik Lauritzen.
We are stronger together
Since 2008, HOLMRIS has merged with 14 companies and factories in Denmark, but the most comprehensive merger took place in 2018, where HOLMRIS and B8 joined forces: After having driven each other to innovative highs and creative peaks for more than 80 years, we have transformed ourselves into one dynamic company in May 2018.
More than 100 years of quality craftmanship
B8 was founded, when Martin and Kristian Bach bought Bjerringbro sawmill in 1914, and with the ambition of ‘delivering everything to a house’, the two brothers started producing wood furniture. With the ability to see new opportunities and dare to exploit them, the family-owned company created a strong and modern brand, where the sustainable approach, solid craftsmanship, and a willing entrepreneurial spirit formed the driving force and compass for more than 100 years.
At HOLMRIS B8, we come together to create room for people. Within our four walls, we do our best to give each other space and make room for innovative thinking and well-being.
We are a diverse community of more than 300 employees. Many imaginative minds and smiling faces who respect each other’s differences, whether we are visiting customers, creating tabletops, crunching numbers or doing something else entirely.
Our aspirations are high – on our own and our customers’ behalf. We love to challenge the ordinary and seek out new paths, keeping pace with a changing world, where evolving needs and new technology bring new opportunities.
At HOLMRIS B8, we provide the space and support to take chances and test new ideas, which can drive our business forward. This is part of our DNA and historical heritage, and it can be felt in everything we do.
For 80 years and three generations, HOLMRIS B8 has been family owned. In June 2017, this changed slightly when 60% of our shares were sold to the BWB Partners investment fund.
The remaining 40% are owned by the HOLMRIS B8 executive board – Henrik Holmris and Niels Henrik Lauritzen – and other senior employees in the company.

Protecting the environment is a core principle for HOLMRIS B8. Our green ambitions are therefore reflected in every action, process and product.
All our production takes place in accordance with Denmark’s strict environmental regulations, and we regularly check that our suppliers comply with all applicable environmental requirements.
This green mindset is also embodied in our products, where we use sustainably sourced timbre, and in our daily operations, where everything from light bulbs to how we deliver our furniture is environmentally friendly.
