The COBRA chair was designed by Danish designer Hans Sandgren Jakobsen in collaboration with Hans Thyge & Co. The name of the chair makes sense given its iconic, curved back, which resembles that of a cobra snake standing tall. The resemblance to a standing cobra symbolizes the eagerness to learn that is hopefully achieved when students use ergonomic chairs that provide them with exceptionally good seating comfort.
The organic shape of the back contributes to the ergonomics of the chair as it is shaped to support the entire spine. Just like the RAY chairs, the plastic material for the COBRA chair has been thoroughly tested and pressured to create the thin, ergonomic shape.
The COBRA chair is useful in educational settings where flexible seating is needed since the base is a five-legged cross base with wheels that make it possible for students to easily move around for group work or similar situations.
