Activities

During your time at HOLMLAND, you get to participate in one grand adventure during the day. Whether you are an adrenaline junkie or more of a walk-and-talker, we have something just for you.

Wakeboard, SUP & Sauna

Hit the water at Aarhus Cable Park. The skilled instructors will help you master the art of wakeboarding. Expect splashes and plenty of “almost had it!” moments, but you will get there. If you prefer, you can also slow things down with a stand-up paddle session.

Afterwards, warm up and relax in the sauna by the water. The perfect balance of thrill and chill.

Bring: Swimwear and whatever you need for showering after.

PovertyWalk (in Danish)

Experience Aarhus from a different perspective on a guided walk led by someone who’s lived its streets. A formerly homeless person guides this eye-opening tour and offers honest insight into life on the margins of society.

The walk is organized by Gadeliv, a local social initiative that gives vulnerable citizens a voice and a community. Along the way, you’ll pass places connected to the city’s social outreach, and get a closer look at areas like Sydhavnen — a part of town undergoing big changes, where questions of inclusion and urban development go hand in hand.

Note: The walk is in Danish, as the guides do not speak English.

Bring: Comfortable shoes and an open mind.

ARoS: Aarhus' iconic art museum

Step into one of Denmark’s cultural landmarks. With its world-class exhibitions and iconic rainbow panorama crowning the building, ARoS is a must-see (and perhaps a must-see-again).

Wander through nine floors of contemporary and classic art at your own pace, from immersive underground installations to views of the city high above.

Bring: Curiosity and your camera.

Padel at Pakhus 77

Whether you’re new to the game or already have a strong backhand, this activity at the cool Pakhus 77 is open to all levels.

Choose between a fun match or a training session with an instructor. No matter what, you’ll get your heart rate up, have a laugh with your colleagues, and maybe even find your new favorite sport.

Bring: Sports clothes, indoor shoes, and whatever you need for showering after.

Harbor cruise: Aarhus on the rise

Hop aboard our private boat and set sail through Aarhus Harbor, where cranes, construction, and architecture meet the sea breeze.

As we cruise along the waterfront, you’ll learn about the city’s rapidly evolving waterfont, striking new architecture, and how old industrial areas are being transformed into vibrant urban spaces. What better way to take in the changing face of Aarhus?

Bring: A windbreaker.

Aufguss & cold plunge

Get ready for the evening’s party by recharging with a sensory experience combining aromatic aufguss (saunagus) rituals and invigorating cold-water plunges.

You’ll move through three distinct seances, each featuring different essential oils and guided steam infusions that awaken your senses and calm your mind. Between each session, brave the cold-water dip and feel the endorphin rush — then do it all again.

Bring: Swimwear and whatever you need for showering after.

Afternoon lounge & seaside party

In the afternoon, we will all meet and unwind at The Canteen, a former floating dock workshop right on the edge of Aarhus Harbor. Chat about your adventures over snacks and drinks, or bop your head to the jazz band.

As day transitions into night, we will share a meal, turn up the music, and dance the night away.

All the practical information

How does bus transport work?

We have booked bus transport to and from the festival for everyone who lives outside Aarhus, with multiple stops across the country. Choose your bus pick-up when you register for the festival. All buses will arrive at 9.30. For those not staying in Aarhus for the night, the buses leave at 01:00. For those staying overnight in Aarhus, the buses leave the next morning.

Arrival and departure times TBA.

What should I wear?

During the day, we will be spending time outside and moving around, so we suggest you wear comfortable shoes and pack according to the weather forecast. Don’t forget to check your activity for any special clothing requirements.

In the afternoon, we recommend you change into you best party clothes. There will be rooms (M/F) available for changing clothes at the hotel (also for people not staying overnight), or you can use the bathrooms at the party venue.

Do I have to wear my HOLMLAND t-shirt?
It is entirely up to you if you want to wear your HOLMLAND T-shirt. We want you to have a good day, which means wearing what you feel comfortable in.

What if it rains?

We are, of course, once again manifesting a sunny September day, but if it rains, make sure to bring practical clothes, a big smile, and perhaps an umbrella. We’ll be inside for large parts of the day, but we might get a little wet during some of the activities.

Can I shower?

For those staying overnight, there are showers in your hotel room. For those not staying overnight, we have booked daytime use of extra hotel rooms for those who want a place to change and shower. If you choose to wakeboard or sauna you can shower at the activity location. If you don’t need a shower, you can also refresh and change at the party venue.

Can I bring my own car?

If you bring your own car it’s at your own expense. We’ll be based in central Aarhus, where paid parking is available.

We’ll begin the day at Toldbodgade 6C and finish at Balticagade 12D. The distance between the two locations is short, so you can easily park somewhere in between or near either spot and leave your car there for the day.

Can I take a taxi and expense the company?

No, you cannot take a taxi. We have arranged buses to and from all our Danish locations and added a few extra stops to make it as convenient as possible.

Is there accommodation?

Accommodation is available for international colleagues as well as those who live on Fyn or Zealand. For those who live in Jutland, there will be buses taking you back at 1 am.

You’re also welcome to book accommodation at your own expense.

We’ll be staying at Wakeup Aarhus, located by the central station. As of now, it’s fully booked, but we’re in contact with the hotel in case any rooms become available.

If not, there are several other hotels nearby in various price ranges—such as Scandic, Milling Hotel Ritz, and Cabinn (the latter is located by the river but just a short walk away).

I'm not from Denmark. How do I get to HOLMLAND?

Transportation to and from Copenhagen will be handled locally, and you will receive information directly from your daily office.

In Copenhagen, you will stay at WakeUp Hotel on September 18th and go on the bus with your colleagues from the Copenhagen office to the festival.
