Danish design, quality solutions and modern modes of collaboration are the keywords at the Copenhagen branch of Denmark’s leading global law firm, DLA Piper. They recently moved into their brand-new headquarters in Copenhagen’s fashionable Østerbro district.
Sweco Architects created the interior design concept for DLA Piper’s new offices, which occupy three floors. With the building’s central location and alignment with the surrounding community, the aim was to give the employees a contemporary workplace with open-plan offices facilitating interaction and knowledge-sharing.
No matter where you are in the building, you find transparency and a good view – and, not least, plenty of quality furniture from eminent Danish design brands like Fritz Hansen, Hay and &tradition. HOLMRIS B8 supplied and installed all the furniture for the meeting facilities, canteen, reception and lounge areas.
A new life for used furniture
At the same time, we helped DLA Piper dispose of their surplus furniture and fittings sustainably.
Nearly 1,300 shelves, chairs, desks, lamps, white boards, wastepaper baskets, exercise bikes and hat racks have been given a new lease of life in 15 schools and organizations that are members of the HOLMRIS B8 Circular’s donation network. We also bought up around 550 pieces of furniture which we refurbished and sold as used to private individuals and small businesses.
To document these sustainability actions, we prepared a detailed environmental report for DLA Piper, containing exact numbers and providing an overview of where the law firm’s used furniture went.
Michelle Thagaard Olesen, DLA Piper’s Chief Operation Officer, says:
“We’ve truly enjoyed the collaboration throughout the entire process, from demonstration of the furniture through ordering to delivery and installation. Everyone has been consistently professional, service-minded and kind, and we felt we were in safe hands. Thank you to the HOLMRIS B8 team for the great work. Together, we’ve created a beautiful head office that we’re extremely proud of.”
